I was embarrassed by my stinky links so I put Zombie’s original message back up.

Ok, I just noticed that the links aren’t supposed to work until they’re in the dictionary. So this will work?

KT, you’ve got too many quotation marks in your links. Use the template — with no additional quotation marks.
And make sure they’re not “curly” — turn off curly-quotes in your word-processing program.

Also, don’t capitalize words unless they’re proper nouns.
The links should work on this page, just as they would on the dictionary page.

I fixed “‘fatwa” to be functional and perfect.
Check it out, and use it as the model for the others.

Ah, I see. Thanks zombie. You’re also correct about the capitalization, my old bibliography professor would have me shot.
I’m trying to keep the definitions as concise as possible to help out the newbies. Do you think the depth level is about right?

Are you here?

This thing keeps on changing the Direct links to each word!
“Allahu ackbar” is finally working but now the “Dar ul….”’s keep changing.
This is really pissing me off.

Ok, I’ve figured out a valuable lesson. If an entry contains a space (’allahu ackbar” , Dar ul Harb) you have to use %20 instead of the space bar, otherwise the wordpress code editor will send your link somewhere else.

Wasn’t the Taliban a caliphate?

I know I’m not entering these terms directly into the sandbox, but a couple of thoughts on the aforementioned definitions:
Jihad - the literal translation is struggle. However, it is most commonly invoked by Islamists to bring violence to whatever region they inhabit or to launch attacks against non-believers around the world. Hence, users will sarcastically refer to jihad as the peaceful inner struggle.
wudu - ritual washing before prayer. Has come to include demands for footbaths in several public universities around the world so as to complete religious obligations.
Mecca, Medina, and the Stoning of the Devil might also be useful terms to add. Ditto for Sunni and Shi’ite.

Here is my addition below (forgive me if this is not the place to contribute)
Murtad - One who leaves islam
btw doesn’t Allahu Ackbar also mean “Allah is greater” ?

Check spelling. Proselytizing, not prostelitizing

KT: %20 only works if you have the requisite ; behind it.
When making things big or little try variations of the h1 - h6 tags instead of doing the ‘big” thing. xhtml strict forbids big, doesn’t format right in some browsers, etc. The only time you need font is for font color, but really for consistent look and feel it should match the blog theme.

Also if you want to change the color of the link words then it needs to be edited in the style sheet, so … I can do that but only if z chooses to go with a diff color for the links.

Zombie - I fiddled with the text links a lot, could not get different behaviour no matter what I tried doing, think it’s embedded in the WP code loop. Don’t want to mess with that.

Hi all-I’ve found “Stan”-and have the links. I will write it up as an entry. I also have a little bit more research on “fauxtography”.
